Sie kaufte ein Paar Stiefel.

English Translation

She bought a couple of boots.

In the USA at least, we always say “a PAIR of boots” never “a couple.”

This seems to me a tricky one:

“A couple of boots” sounds to me like more than one pair which would be in German
“ein paar Stiefel” with the small “p”
whereas
“ein Paar Stiefel” with the capital “P”
is - as you say -“a pair of boots”.
