This should be the conditional tense, and the conditional tense conjugation is spelled mourrais.
It is funny you should say that; since the sentence was originally as you suggested, but was corrected later on. 
I happen to agree with the correction. I was taught that in French you can’t have a conditional in the main clause of a conditional statement.
