It would be nice for a change if “AI” proponents argued based on facts, not on feelings.
All the studies (that aren’t paid for by “AI” companies) say that the use of LLMs harms learning, and even some of the studies by the “AI” companies themselves indicate that LLMs make people objectively less productive while they (contrary to reality) feel they’re subjectively more productive.
Studies after studies, books, and people with a degree in computer science or other relevant expertise say the opposite of what you claim. Please bring more than feelings to a discussion like this. You may have your own opinion, but you may not make up your own facts.
By the way, Belgium is (as I write this) suffering the biggest wildfires in its history. Greece is currently burning.
You mentioned “mixed feelings”, but you completely ignored my previous remarks about Canada, France and Spain burning when you said that LLMs are a boon. LLMs aren’t a boon, insofar if you don’t want to study your language in a complete wasteland. LLMs are destroying our planet on an unprecedented scale.
In a previous comment, I wrote I don’t want to have to flee my homecountry Germany in the coming decade due to the climate catastrophe. As the wildfires in Belgium have already crossed the border into Germany, it seems I was way too optimistic. I might need to evacuate next year already or perhaps even in the coming weeks.

This picture is not AI-generated, it’s a real photo. The fact that I even feel compelled to mention this (due to past experiences) is sad evidence that AI is information warfare on our shared reality and objective truth.
