Does ‘ställde til det’ really mean ‘messed up’? Not according to Wiktionary.
I’ll leave it to people who actually speak swedish to give an informed answer about it but, in the meantime: something along those lines does appear under “ställa till”, so I reckon the sentence is using the partikel verb and not “ställa” + preposition “till”.
