Probabilmente è un allarme.

English Original Sentence

It’s probably a warning.

Is this a warning signal or siren, or the like?

Ciao @morbrorper

A warning - un avvertimento, forse.

I take this to mean literally “an alarm”.

Avvertimento and avviso are indeed used in parallel translations by the same author.

Uh, yes, it is an “alarm” in the sense of fire alarm or anti-theft alarm, it typically implies loud sounds, but not always.

Alarm as in the sounds required to wake up at a certain time is called “sveglia”.

Allarme derives from “all’arme” (“alle armi”, to the weapons), and I suppose we Italians do not consider being late to work a life and death situation.

Today I learned … in addition, that the English word “alarm” ultimately derives from the old Italian all’arme -
