Preferisco cercare una soluzione ai problemi, non solo denunciarli.

English Translation

I prefer to look for a solution to problems, not only to report them.

“Denunciare” is an equivalent of the English word “report,” but in a negative sense, as in report a crime. The construction of this sentence implies that the person is “reporting” solutions rather than problems, which makes no sense. Would an Italian listener understand the speaker to be reporting problems or solutions?

A far as I understand it, the Italian sentence is clear:
I prefer to look for a solution to problems, not only to report the problems (…li!)
“Li” cannot refer to “una soluzione”, can it?
It is the same in the English sentence: “Them” cannot refer to “solution”.

Yes, that’s how I read it. “I prefer to look for solutions to problems, not just report them”.
