Per piacere, mi perdoni.

English Translation

Please forgive me.

What’s up with this stress pattern? It seems the audio pronounces every instance of perdoni that is preceded by a mi or ci as “pèrdoni”. I see no reason to deviate from the regular stress on the penultimate syllable.

Ciao morbrorper e come va? Non posso trovarlo so I can’t listen.

But I see you point.

Auguri…

I can’t hear the audio, but it is “perdòni”. It is probably a text-to-speech error.

A similar word where the accent can make a difference is “Perdono”:

  • Pèrdono means “they lose”, from “perdere”
  • Perdòno means “forgiveness”

Edit: the accent is not usually written, except in dictionaries.
