Impressive to find the source. Thanks. Clearly not something said recently (nor something that would have resonance in Romania). I can indeed remember Marchais, as the head of the PCF, from readings in my European politics course which I took about 1977… when the PCF was a pretty substantial force in French politics. Especially via its associated union. Do I recall it was the CGT?
