Would debba work here? I have learnt that pensare che is followed by the subjunctive, so is this an exception?

You can use “debba” but it changes the meaning a bit. The version with “dovrei” feels more like a request for advice, the other asks for an opinion.
I would probably translate the two versions as:
Do you think I should go alone?" or
Do you think i have to go alone?"
