The English translation is given as ‘She wants you to learn how to read’. Is the original Polish sentence OK grammatically? Would 'Ona chce żebyś nauczył się czytać? be correct/incorrect/the same/better/worse? Dziękjuję z góry.

The Polish sentence here is incorrect. The proper way to say it is “'Ona chce, żebyś (ty) nauczył się czytać”, just as you suggested.

If the sentence was about someone else, then it would make sense to say “Ona chce, żeby (on) nauczył się czytać.”
