I’m not sure if you mean that the given translation isn’t right, or you are just adding some more possible translations, but in case it’s the former: the translation, even if maybe not the most usual, is not incorrect, as “on” can be used to express general facts and truths, and “pratiquer” can mean to do some sport (not only at a practice level, but the activity itself). So “pratiquer le kayak” could be translated as “kayaking” and coupling it with the impresonal “on”, you get that translation.
