I slept with my boss.
Does ‘I was in bed with…’ really mean ‘I slept with…’?
It does seem so. The wiktionnary says, for sänky:
2. (euphemistic) sex (especially in the expressions mennä sänkyyn, olla sängyssä, which both have the sense to have sex in addition to the literal sense, compare English to go to bed with, to be in bed with)
And the kielitoimiston sanakirja seems to also imply something along those lines

I would prefer the Finnish translation to be “Menin sänkyyn …”, as “olin sängyssä …” sounds more like “I was sleeping with …”.
I think I am biased by both English and Danish. Both languages uses ‘mennä’, not ‘olla’. ‘I went to bed with…’ and ‘Jeg gik i seng med…’ sound okay whereas ‘I was in bed with…’ and ‘Jeg var i seng med…’ sound weird.
