The finnish sentence and all the others on tatoeba (except for the japanese one) seem to misunderstand the meaning of the english original, as far as I can tell.

It does not mean “put on”.

This is what it means:

So a better translation would be:
Nuori poika veti äitinsä takkia.

or maybe even:
Nuori poika veti äitiään takista/takinhihasta/-liepeestä.
