I don’t understand this. ‘Ne’ is inanimate unless used in puhekieli, and in that case I would expect ‘toimivat’ to be singular ‘toimii’. So to me a more likely translation is ‘they are working now’, meaning some inanimate objects, such as computers or machines, did not function properly in the recent past but now they do.
The sentence (probably) comes from Tatoeba, and it seems that same user who posted it linked it to “They are running now.”. So they probably had in mind what you were saying about computers when they wrote the sentence in Finnish.

The Tatoeba page above has no mention of “They are taking action now”, and in fact I can’t find that translation in Clozemaster either, so I wonder where that came from.
