It seems that the pattern is essere contrario a qualcosa, so why does this sentence use ne and not ci?

Neither “ne sono contrario” nor “ci sono contrario” are proper Italian.
“Sono contrario” is sufficient.
The only reference I found on the Internet to “Ne sono conrtario” goes back to Tatoeba.
Bad sentence, ignore it.
