My grandfather sometimes talks to himself when he is alone.
"Tra se’ e se’ " is very interesting. I wanted to check more sentences in CM and elsewhere for it but my Italian keyboard does not type that accented letter e.

“Tra sé e sé” is a commonly used idiom. It is worth remembering it.
For the accented letter, on most Italian keyboards you can obtain the letter by pressing “AltGr” (Right Alt) and è.
I prefer an International US keyboard with a “compose” key (easy to setup on Linux) but alternatively, an International US keyboard “with dead keys” could work (to get the accented e you would type 'e). But that requires typing ’ twice to get the accented letter.
