The Esperanto sentence translates more to a sense of “I received that for you”, along the lines of a package that showed up to the wrong door or something. The English sentence “I got you this” would be far better translated as “Mi akiris ĉi tion por vi”, or “Mi aĉetis ĉi tion por vi” if it was bought (e.g. from a store).
