We saw Tom do it.

Unnecessary switch to present in 2nd half of sentence. A better translation is “we saw that Tom did it”.

I don’t know, to me “We saw Tom do it.” feels more natural. Doesn’t it mean the same as “we saw that Tom did it”?

Yeah, it is a controversial issue. It is basically a matter of, do you want the English translation to be ‘natural’ or literal. I like it when the English is close to the Finnish because then it is easier to remember. But it is a personal preference, and I know from a Finnish language forum that not everybody shares my view :grin:
