Människan som slutar lära sig är så gott som död.

English Translation

The man who stops learning is as good as dead.

Another one that isn’t really helpful. MANNEN would surely be “the man” and so, although knowing the work människan, it took me a while to get there. This format of having ONE missing word means that the text to lead you to that word has to be very exact. Or you end up having to use the word bank choices.

We are quite literal-minded in Sweden, so with “mannen” we would think that it doesn’t apply to women. So “människan”, “en människa”, or simply “den” are good alternatives.

Ahhh. I think here it might have helped me if the English had said “the person who stops learning” (although I realise that doesn’t fit in with the “proverb” format). From there i would have got to människan by myself. But have noted your answer. Thank you.
