He has some faults, but I like him none the less.

Here is a very practical question: will I use “difetto” to describe a person or use another Italian word for “shortcomings”? My conscious choice is no “difetto” , but I would like to know if it is perfectly ok for Italians to use it in everyday normal speech. In short, as a learner, I want to know if this sentence is ok and not offensive to the Italians as some sentences in CM might be.

Ciao @barcarolle , our Italian Club friend has given me her response:

"Una frase del genere non si riferisce a delle caratteristiche fisiche di una persona, ma a certi aspetti del suo carattere che non ci piacciono . Non è un complimento, ma non è nemmeno un’offesa.

Comunque oltre ai difetti ognuno ha anche dei “pregi” (= buone qualità)"
