OK, this is a real nit. The English version here has an error. Mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas that spread disease are vectors, not carriers, causing vector-born diseases. If you do an internet search, there are plenty of good websites (the Center for Disease Control is one) that explain the difference. I did a small search, it looks like French make the same distinction. Vectors and carriers are not the same thing.
