The translation is given as ‘You had better start at once.’ Would a better translation be ‘You’d better move/go at once’ ?

While “ruszaj” means literally “move/go” (imperative), it can also be used as a starting signal, so that’s probably where that translation came from. Of course, your suggestion would work here too.
