Translated as: “Why are you dragging this out?” Not too sure about this, what do you think.

Also:

“Non gliele darò”. Translated as: “I won’t give them to you”.
I immediately read this as “I won’t give them to him”. Perhaps I’m missing something more Formal?

It would be more; “we are dragging it out.”

I agree with you. “I won’t give them to him/her/them"

And formal you (same form as “to her”)?

I agree, “we are dragging it out” or “we are dragging our feet”

“Non gliele darò” would be “I won’t give them to you” if using formal Lei.

Mille grazie also @morbrorper. When I’m confused by a tense I always think “Ah, Remoto!” so must learn to think “Ah, Lei/formal” with the glie combinations.
