The Tatoeba sentence now reads “Le fleuve traversant Paris se nomme la Seine.”
The word rivière is used for tributaries, whereas the Seine is a major river.

I’m wondering about the gerund traversant; in Spanish I believe a sub-clause would be preferred: “El río que atraviesa París se llama Sena.” But maybe it’s OK in French.
It doesn’t sound wrong to me.
I did a quick search, because your comment made me doubt whether it actually sounded right because of french, or because I was mixing it with something else, but it does indeed seem to be a correct use of the participe present, that is, to use it in place of a relative clause.
