Can rabbits swim?
I always had the impression that Hase = hare and Kaninchen = rabbit. Is that not always the case?
Most people/Germans aren’t strict in their differentiation. I presume that many don’t even know about that difference. I further presume that’s what happened here: The German translator used the wrong word due to not knowing it better.
My hunch is that Germans use the word “Kaninchen” only when it’s a pet rabbit and “Hase” both when it’s a hare or a wild rabbit.
