English Translation
We take oil for granted.
I don’t think “menyia-nyuakan” means “to take for granted”.
According to SEAlang and IndoDic, the root word “sia-sia” as an adjective means “futile”, “useless” or “wasted”. The transitive verb “menyia-nyiakan”, therefore, means “to waste resources”, “to miss opportunities” or “not to use time efficiently”.
“To take it for granted” in English means that we assume with no doubt that the resource is always available. But it doesn’t mean that we waste such a resource or regard it useless.
