Je veux retourner à mon réduit.

English Translation

I want to go back to my cubicle.

As far as I can tell, réduit doesn’t really mean “cubicle“ (a tiny desk area which likely has short walls but not up to the ceiling and certainly no door). I did find these definitions on a Larousse app that might fit:

  1. Recoin dans une pièce (corner in a room)
  2. Local, logement de petites dimensions et misérable ( Local, small and miserable housing)
  3. Zone refuge où des forces en état d’infériorité essaient de poursuivre le combat après une défaite (A refuge zone where forces in a state of inferiority try to continue the fight after a defeat)

Some apps also defined réduit as cubbyhole. I could see calling a cubicle a réduit, but it would probably be a little sarcastic and a commentary on the horribleness of it.

I agree. Problem is… I can’t think of any word for cubicle. If we’re talking about work/job, I guess we would just use “bureau” (desk).
