English Translation
I got out straight after getting my century because I was being too complacent. I let my team down.
Quelques athlètes dans le forum voudraient-ils interpréter « getting my century » en anglais ?
The sentence was sourced from Tatoeba, and their English translation makes way more sense to me:
“I got out right after having finished my streak, because I was too complacent. I let my team down.”
^^^ this makes it sound more like baseball, or at least some other sport where a player has the potential to be eliminated from the active round of the game, no?
Is there precedent for any good, consecutive play being called a “century” in any sport, or is this purely an error? Mostly curious, haha.
