English Translation
I went shopping at the new convenience store that opened in the neighborhood and received a free gift of bread.
This is a bit of a nit, but épicerie is kind of a small neighborhood store, right? I would never call that a convenience store. In the US, a convenience store is more like a 7-11 store, or a gas station grocery store, but usually something that has liquor, cigarettes, candy, and bread and milk (and a few other staples like soap or bandaids or such). Is that more like a bureau de tabac?
