Why is ‘hade’ missing in this sentence (Jag trodde att jag hade förlorat er)?
Can förlorat be used without auxiliary verb (‘har-hade’) at all?

In subordinate clauses, “har”/“hade” is optional.
You will see this (no “har”/“hade”) many times more in many other sentences.
