I hate your guts.
This is translated as “I hate your guts.” To have guts can mean courage, but hating someone’s guts would seem to be an entirely different figurative use, as in hating someone viscerally. Deepl uses “budella.” I want to report this as an error, but would just like to know if any madrelingua out there might vouch for it’s correctness.
Ciao, spoke with a madrelingua who wasn’t too sure what was intended, in English, but didn’t particularly like the phrase anyway. Coraggio would work in respect of bravery but it doesn’t make sense otherwise. My tt (trusty translator) gives me “Ti odio a morte!” which seems far more elegant. Cosa ne pensi?
I would agree that “Ti odio a morte” is much less confusing and that the Italian phrase as it stands would be more confusing.
