I think is better “I guess you are” instead of “I take it you are”

Ciao GiuseppeBG. I think this is the difference between American E and GB E. “I guess” is not used so much in GB and we would usually say “I take it you are…”. Mind you, “I guess” is definitely getting more popular so I guess I should start using it more;-) A dopo…

And then, “take” has too many meanings.

Non ti preoccupare. It happens to all of us, at one time or another. Sometimes we too shout “What?!” but I just move on and try not to throw my tablet in the bin;-) I think most apps have differences when it comes to translations. I think the expression is “Ci rido sopra”.

Interesting … I have never thought about how we use the word “take”. The good thing about spoken English is that it doesn’t require much precision to be understood!

You’re so right dac573. The more Italian I learn, the more I realise how many meanings a word like “take” can have.
