This word threw me off because I thought it should be “terapista.” It turns out both words exist in Italian. When I submit “terapeuta” to Google imaginni, I get photos of psychologists and counselors. When I submit terapista, I get physical therapists working on knees and backs and such. Anyone know if Italian has separate names for these two occupations or are they, despite what Google implies, interchangeable?
