As and when you come to this interesting intestinal phrase, I am told it is more correct to say “L’intestino piccolo è lungo…”. ; same construction goes for the large intestines. Good to know for any medical visits;-) It may be in the English from Italian course, I can’t quite remember.

I actually read this as “the little head” instead of “intestine”, so much prefer your phrase indeed 
I also couldn’t figure out at all how someone would claim that “the little head” was “about seven meters long”… Talking about some kind of hydra perhaps?
