The field spoke!
This seems to be a fixed Italian expression from soccer meaning something like “the decision took place on the field”.
It does not make much sense in English. The first thing that came to my mind was the Costner movie “Field of dreams”.
We have a similar saying in (very, very bad) German: “Entscheidend is auf’m Platz.”
