I wouldn’t dare to adress a mixed group of students with “You guys” nowadays.
Type “you guys to a mixed group” in Google and you’ll find a plethora of (not only female) people who find this offensive.

Right. What I was trying to say is that, even “guys” literally means a group of men, “you guys” is more a unit that’s used as a plural-you, except, of course, in the minds of those who find it offensive, because they focus on the literal meaning. But the fact is that it is used, even by women to women, and I assert that to those who use it it’s just a unit.
This is an age thing. For the older crowd, “you guys” is perfectly gender neutral and has the exact same meaning as “you group of people”. For the younger crowd, “you guys” is considered to be gender exclusive language, and you are encouraged to say “you all” instead, in order to avoid excluding anyone.
Maybe I’m just old and stubborn, but I refuse to make this adjustment, because it seems stupid to me.
