I was about to comment how odd it sounds to say “I wouldn’t let you do that in a dream”, but then it occurred to me that that’s essentially what we’re saying when we say “I wouldn’t dream of letting you do that”. Once again, seeing an expression in German forces me to think about an expression in my own language that I’d never really considered before.
