In this case the English translation suggests a meaning of having sex, but the German just suggests not doing some generic activity. Can the German sentence imply having sex in this case (without stretching the meaning too much)?

Yes. The first part is generic, but the “mit ihr” implies sex.

Ah, OK, thanks for that clarification.

When looking at the machine translations (Google, DeepL) and AI explanation I didn’t get any hint of that - specifically the AI explanation just talks about some generic activity with an unknown female person.
