English Translation
I get you.
Maybe “hab dich” is a better translation of “I get you”.
“I get what you mean” is a better translation for “Ich verstehe, was du meinst”

I don’t think so. “Hab dich” would normally be understood as “Gotcha / I caught you”, like in a game of catch or hide-and-seek. It is never used to mean “I understand you”.
“I get what you mean” is a better translation for “Ich verstehe, was du meinst”
Maybe. But if you translate from english to german, there is no catchy translation that is as short as the english “I get you”. Maybe something like “Klar.” can be used in the right context. But I’m not surprised that the translator came up with this long german version.
