Ich sehe mich nur um. Vielen Dank!

English Translation

I’m just looking, thank you.

Why “mich” here?

Because it is “sich umsehen” = “to look around”.

Btw, the sentence is the polite standard negation in a shop.
Salesperson: “Kann ich Ihnen helfen?”
Customer: “Ich sehe mich nur um. Vielen Dank!”

It seems a little tough a concept to grasp, although I may have seen something somewhat similar in Hebrew. So, it would mean stg. like “I’m looking around me”?

Exactly.
In our situation you don’t look purposeful for a yellow cashmere with polka dots but you look here and there, at this and that, just all around.

Thanks @anon94972132! Knowing in which situation(s) the example sentences can be used is very useful.
