Ich kann die Kinder meiner Schwester nicht ausstehen!

It seems like German has a lot of different verbs that mean “stand” or “endure” something unpleasant. Can someone explain the distinction between them?

There is “ausstehen”, “aushalten”, “ertragen”? Is “ausstehen” a bit more casual like “I’m putting up with this but it’s not really that bad.” whereas “ertragen” is more “I am really suffering” and “aushalten” is more “I’m holding out against some sort of force that is fighting against me”?

ausstehen is less of a way to tell that you are enduring something (which is passive by nature). It rather means that you hate (even loathe) the person, situation etc.
