Would “Ich höre jemanden an die Tür klopfen” also be acceptable?

I think it would be better to say your variant like this:

  • Ich höre jemand, der an die Tür klopft.

but still I’m not entirely sure if your sentence is currect or wrong

All three variants work and are perfectly natural.

Note in the last example “jemand” is accusative, so “jemanden” is also valid.
