I added your name to the list.
I don’t understand what purpose “mit” serves in this German sentence.

Maybe a more literal transaltion would be:
“I have put your name on the list, too.”
The “mit” has the same purpose as the “too” in English.
Using “added” a “too” is not necessary.
The English sentence would be more literally translated as
“Ich habe deinen Namen der Liste zugefügt.”
“Mit” in this sentence woudl be very unusual and a pleonasm.
