This isn’t what other sites are saying is correct. Shouldn’t it be “ich angle gern”?
Both are correct. In fact, there’s three correct variations:
Ich angel
Ich angle
Ich angele
All three are listed in the conjugation table at angeln - Wiktionary, the free dictionary.
The most original form is “Ich angele”, and the others are variations on which “e” gets dropped.
