Hmm, or “sono in sciopero”. (They hit us again). I think colpire is often used, eg the weather takes a hit, but praps @mike-lima could clarify for us. Grazie in anticipo.

I think in this sentence “colpiscono” is not the right translation.

Unless the “macchinisti” are a group of criminals, that succeeded in another daring plot. Uh, that would be an interesting movie to watch! :smiley:

“scioperano” or “fanno sciopero” are good translations.

Now I wonder if ancora is the right word for being on strike again, as it to me gives the impression that they are still on strike. How about “fanno sciopero di nuovo”?

You can use “di nuovo”, and it would be less ambiguous, as the “still/again” meanings coexist in “ancora”.

However, the position of the adverb and the verb tense used are also hints on which of the meanings is meant:

“I macchinisti sono ancora in sciopero” is interpreted as “they are still on strike” while “I macchinisti scioperano ancora” is interpreted as “are on strike again”.
