What’s going on?
I think that this translation might be wrong. “What’s going on?” can make it sound like you are asking the equivalent of “What’s up?”
If I understand this expression properly, I think that it is more idiomatically used to mean something like “what is wrong?” In other words, it comes with a negative connotation in which the speaker detects that there is some sort of problem.
“What is wrong?” would be a better translation, in my opinion.
