Will surgery help it?
Obviously, “operacija” means operation. A better translation of surgery would be “hirurgija”.
I don’t know serbian, but I can tell you that in german, Chirurgie is the field of study, and Operation is the procedure. And after some short research it seems to be the case that this pattern also applies across many slavic languages, at least the ones I found evidence for on wiktionary, which are russian, bulgarian, kazakh, and macedonian. Wiktionary doesn’t seem to have a page for serbian directly, but macedonian is closely related to serbian, of course.

So, I would at least be careful to accept your correction as a fact. English seems to be the odd one here.
