Ho sempre voluto incontrarti.

English Translation

I’ve always wanted to meet you.

Looking through the corpus, it strikes me that sempre never seems to precede the finite verb of a sentence; I wonder how “Sempre ho voluto incontrarti” sounds to a native.

This “rule” is in stark contrast to Spanish, where you often see siempre at the beginning of sentences.

Interesting. Forse it is something to do with emphasis.

Aspettiamo…

It doesn’t feel very natural. You can move around the adverb quite freely in Italian, but it feels better in some position.
