I always thought it was just an oddity in the English language that the word “change” can mean either a modification to something (eine Änderung), or a switch from one thing to another (ein Wechsel), or small amounts of money left over from some transaction (das Trinkgeld). Imagine my surprise when seeing a German word like “Wechselgeld” - perhaps the extra meaning of “change” in English comes from German originally?
