English Translation

He helps you to write it.

I think the English grammer is wrong, and it should be ‘he helps you writing…’ instead of ‘he helps you to write…’.

Why do you think so? The given English translation sounds OK to me.

Wiktionary only shows help followed by an infinitive.

It comes from the expression ‘I am looking forward to meeting you’. The use of ‘meeting’ is because it sounds silly to say ‘I am looking forward to to meet you’. So I apply the same logic to this sentence, ‘he helps you to to write’ but to be honest I am not sure the first ‘to’ is necessary.

Those double to’s look awful. With to help I believe it’s more common to omit the infinitive marker: “He helps you write it.” But you can’t apply the same logic to to help and to look forward to.

But what are we doing, discussing English grammar in the Finnish section?
